Holiday Lighting Contest Winners

Congratulations to the winners of the 2013 Heather Highlands Holiday Lighting Contest! Many neighbors put up beautiful lights and decorations, really brightening our lives. Thank you to everyone who participated, bringing holiday joy into our little corner of the world.

For Pacific Raceways complaints

Some neighbors have asked how they can file a complaint about Pacific Raceways conditional use permit violations (such as excessive noise). To register a complaint to King County about Pacific Raceways violations:
1. go to https://aca.accela.com/kingcounty/
2. below "Enforcement" (near the bottom of the page) click on "File a Complaint"
3. type in Parcel Number 1121059035 (on the location tab)

Are You Prepared for an Emergency?

Prepare for Emergencies
Emergencies--earthquakes, fires, power outages, and more--can happen without any warning. We can take steps today to plan for serious emergencies. Disaster planning consists of three simple steps:
1. Make a Plan
Every family should have a plan for how they will communicate during an emergency and where they will meet if separated. This includes establishing an out-of-area contact and a meeting place near your home.
2. Build a Kit
Put the following items together in one place to ensure you have essential items handy during an emergency: a three-day (or more) supply of ready-to-eat food, water (1 gallon per day, per person), medications, and personal hygiene items. You should include a radio (battery-powered or hand-crank style), flashlight and extra batteries, sturdy shoes and warm clothing, first aid kit, blanket, whistle, toys and comfort items for kids and pets.
3. Get Involved and Stay Informed
Resilient communities don’t just happen; they are built by individuals working together and staying informed. Get to know your neighbors and your Block Watch captain. A trusted friend next door can keep an eye on your property, your kids, and your pets if an emergency keeps you from getting home. Learn CPR and basic first aid; they can make the difference between life and death for someone close to you. Register for local and regional emergency alerts, such as www.RPIN.org and Auburn Alerts (www.auburnwa.gov).

Pacific Raceways Public Meeting
Tuesday, October 14th, 6:00-8:00 pm at Green River Community College
The King County Department of Permitting and Environmental Review is holidng its public meeting. As per the notice issued by King County, the purpose of the annual public meeting is to discuss current operation and review compiance with the conditional use permit for Pacific Raceways.
 
Locatoin: Green River Community College, Lind Bloom Student Center Building, Glacier Conference Room, 12401 SE 320th Street, Auburn, WA.

General Homeowners Meeting

Please plan to attend the general homeowners association meeting. An agenda has been published in the HH Newsletter, which will arrive in your mailbox about two weeks before the meeting.
 
 
Holiday Lighting Contest
Saturday, December 20th
This year’s annual holiday lighting contest will be Saturday, December 20. Prizes will be awarded to four different homes. Judges will begin driving through the neighborhood at 6:00 pm. Turn on your holiday lights then!
